WE OFFER SPRING, SUMMER, & FALL CAMPS & CLASSES

Courses Offered:  Saturday  & Weekday Morning / Afternoon / Evening Classes plus Summer Day Camps

We offer classes & camps through the Youth Program (Horizons) at Southeast Missouri State University and the Cape Parks & Rec Department.   All camps and classes are held at Lazy L Safari Park.

CLASSES - Offered thru the Cape Parks & Rec Department

The following classes are being offered at Lazy L Safari Park thru the Cape Parks & Rec Department.  

To register - contact the Cape Parks & Rec Department by phone at 573-339-6340 or in person at A.C. Brase Arena Building between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  You may also register by mail to Cape Parks & Rec Dept., A.C. Brase Arena, 410 Kiwanis Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.  
 

SUMMER CAMPS & CLASSES:        

STORYBOOK SAFARI 

Children will love listening to stories about zoo animals and then actually meeting them at the zoo! 

Date:  Tuesdays, June 3rd & 10th, 2014
Time:  9:30 - 10:30 am 
Age:  3 & under (with one parent or grandparent)
Fee:  $25.00
Minimum:  5     Maximum:  15
 

MOVIN & GROOVIN SAFARI
Let's get movin & groovin at the zoo!  Kids will learn how to walk, hop, climb, crawl, swing. slither, and move like their favorite zoo animals.  

Date:  Thursdays, June 5th & 12th, 2014
Time:  9:30 - 10:30 am 
Age:  4 to 5 years
Fee:  $25.00
Minimum:  5     Maximum:  15
 

ZOO QUEST 
Go on a quest around the zoo to find out fun facts about our zoo animals.  Did you know that ____________?  Come discover the answer to that question and many more as you explore the zoo!

Age:  6 to 8 years

ZOO CLUES
Is it the __________, _________, or _________?  Help us fill in the blanks as we investigate the clues and solve the mystery at the zoo.  It's a real "who done it" - Is it the ___________ or the _____________? Ssssh - we don't want to give it away!

ZOO CAMP
Are you smarter than a zookeeper?  You'll find out during Zoo Camp with games, crafts, music, and more! You'll interact with the animals as we explore the zoo through adventurous activities.  All Zoo Camp participants can help with our Zoofest Special Event to be held Saturday, June 23rd.

Date:  Monday - Friday, June 16th - 20th, 2014
Time:  10:00 am to 12:00 noon
Age:  5 to 8 years
Fee:  $75.00
Minimum:  10     Maximum:  20

Zoofest at Lazy L Safari Park will be held on Saturday, June 23rd.  The Zoo Camp participants will be invited to help put on the Zoofest Special Event activities.  Each Zoo Camp participant will receive free admission plus 2 Free Admission Passes for family members to Zoofest on Saturday, June 23, 2014.

 

Note:

Parents should arrange for children to be dropped off and picked up at Lazy L Safari Park each day.  For children with allergies, please note that children will interact with animals each day.

CLASSES - Offered thru the Horizons Program at SEMO University

The following classes are being offered at Lazy L Safari Park thru the Horizons Program at SEMO University.

JUNIOR ZOOKEEPER
Take a Walk on the Wild Side and explore a career as a zookeeper!  Our Junior Zookeeper Program is designed to introduce you to basic zookeeping including how to feed, clean, and care for animals.  Enroll in our hands-on educational, fun-filled course where you will learn about animals from Alligators to Zebras! You will also learn about animal behavior, habitats, veterinary care, conservation and more - everything you need to know to become a zookeeper.  On the last day of class, parents and families are invited to attend the Junior Zookeeper Certification ceremony for the new Junior Zookeepers.  Graduates of the Junior Zookeeper Program at Lazy L Safari Park are eligible to become Junior Volunteers at the zoo at Lazy L Safari Park.

SAFARI ADVENTURES
Let's go on a safari to the zoo!  You will learn fun facts about animals from Alligators to Zebras!  This safari adventure includes animal related activities, craft projects, games, and an animal visitor everyday.  Come explore the zoo and Take a Walk on the Wild Side!
