Here at the Lazy L Safari Park & Lazy L Exotics we are mainly concerned with caring for our animals on a daily basis and do not like to bring politics or legislative matters into the picture. However, there are times that it is necessary to inform the general public about upcoming laws or political agendas that conflict with the care of the animals and even our way of life as an agricultural ranching family.

THE RADICAL AGENDA OF THE HSUS (Humane Society of the United States)
Since the HSUS is one of the main leaders behind the animal rights movement, we would like to inform you about the truth behind their radical agenda which most people are not aware of. First, the HSUS is not affiliated with your local animal shelter. This is an often misguided asumption by the general public. Despite the ever-present dog and cat fundraising material and commercials, the HSUS is not an organization that runs spay/neuter programs or takes in stray, neglected, and abused pets.
HSUS is the richest and most powerful animal rights organization in the world. However, please do not confuse animal RIGHTS organizations with animal WELFARE organizations. HSUS spends its money growing bigger - not helping animals. HSUS has accumulated over $162 million in assets. Yet, it spends less than one half of one percent of its entire budget actually helping animals. Over 99% of it's budget is spent on lobbying, pensions, salaries, fundraising, and informercials to raise more money, etc. HSUS is deceptive - it runs infomercials asking for just $19/mo to help animals. Yet, less than $1.03 of this amount actually reaches a pet shelter within the entire year. So what does HSUS want? They want to abolish all hunting and fishing, to cripple and/or destroy all animal industries, to make it impossible for anyone to own pets, and to become the "enforcement" arm of THEIR new animal laws.
IN 2010, THE HSUS CAME INTO MISSOURI WITH A BALLOT INTIATIVE AND PASSED PROPOSITION B (deceptively known as the "Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act"). Proposition B is believed to be a precursor to other initiative petitions aimed at animal agriculture in Missouri. The bill was rejected by 100 of the 114 counties in Missouri, but the cities of St. Louis & Kansas City where the populations were targeted by false HSUS ads was how this proposition was able to pass at that time. Since then, the Missouri legislature has passed legislation to correct the problems within this proposition. We will continue to join the fight against the HSUS and other animal activist organizations coming into the State of Missouri and deciding our fate with their hidden agendas!
Information you should be aware of concerning the HSUS:
1) HSUS has just been slapped with a multi-million dollar lawsuit from a dog breeder in South Dakota.
2) There has been a federal lawsuit filed by Feld Entertainment (parent company of Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey Circus) against the HSUS, it's lawyers, and several other people/organizations under the RICO Act (Racketeer Influenced & Corrupt Organization Act).
