PRESS RELEASE FROM LAZY L SAFARI PARK

Lazy L Safari Park is a walk-thru zoo on 15 acres in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  Visitors are able to go on "safari" and see animals from around the world.  Animals include alpacas, antelope, aoudads, birds, camels, cavies, deer, donkeys, emu, goats, ibex, kangaroos, llamas, ostriches, porcupines, reptiles, rheas, tortoises, wallabies, zebras, and many more.

Perched on the banks of a slow-moving creek, Lazy L Safari Park is not your typical zoo.  The park was initially established in 1988 as a family-owned and operated alternative livestock ranch.  After years of fielding questions from local people about the animals, the family decided to open the park to the public and allow visitors to enjoy the animals in a comfortable, safe and natural setting.  Filled with hundreds of exotic animals and over 20 different species, visitors are offered a completely self-guided experience.  Visitors can walk through the main barn, petting zoo, animal nursery, and park grounds in their own time and at their own pace.  Take a stroll along the creek while gazing into the fields to watch zebras or antelope graze.  Feed the pgymy goats, watch baby animals, peer into the reptile aquariums, or check out the emu eggs in our incubator.  Visitors will find several benches to use for quiet reflection or animal watching, a gift shop, a picnic shelter, and a snack shack.

The zoo is open to the public and also for group tours and birthday parties.  Group tours and birthday parties are available by reservation from April thru October.  The zoo is open to the public on weekends during the months of April, May, September, and October and daily from Memorial Day thru Labor Day.  Admission hours are from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm with the zoo closing at 7:00 pm.  The admission charge is $5.00 per person (ages 2 to adult - plus sales tax).

Groups receive a discounted rate of $4.00 per person and bus drivers/paid staff are admitted free.  We will also provide a tour guide who gives educational information to the group.  Birthday parties are $75.00 (for up to 10 guests) and include safari-themed party decorations and table service.  The birthday child receives a special treat and all guests receive a goody bag of feed for the petting zoo.  A tour guide is available upon request.

Our Gift Shop features souvenirs, mugs, shirts, hats, hand-crafted items, animal jewelry, stuffed animals, keychains, stickers, toys, puzzles, and animal print purses.  Antlers, peacock feathers, and porcupine quills are also available for purchase.  The Snack Shack menu includes chips and candy.  Soda machines are available under the picnic shelter.

Lazy L Safari Park LLC is owned by Todd and Vicki Lantz of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  They and their children operate the Lazy L Safari Park as part of their family alternative livestock business.  Lazy L Safari Park is an agritourism and working ranch operation.
